THREE THINGS THURSDAY!

Meg

de-cluttering and home organizing in Little Rock, Arkansas

Most of us spend December accumulating more "things". How about getting rid of a few instead?

1) Excess Linens:

This is something that we all have too many of. Take a good look at your towels and sheets and really think about how many you actually use.

• For bed linens, a good rule of thumb is 1 regular set for each bed and 1 extra set for each size mattress you use in your home.

• For bathroom towels, check the quality of each set that you own. Is there a stain or a frayed edge in any of the set? Is a hand towel or a washcloth missing? Try to keep only full sets in good condition and toss the rest. (okay to keep some mis-matched for rags/cleaning purposes)

• For Beach towels, keep only good condition towels. Toss any that have seen too many vacations or have a design/character that you or your children may have outgrown.

2) Old cell phones:

Do you still have that old razr phone hanging around? Get rid of it! And the cords too! Technology has come a long way in the past 20 years. You are not going back. You can donate them here or sell them online here.

3) VHS:

Most of us don't even have a VCR to play all those home movies anymore. Please pack them up and convert them to DVD or put them on an external hard drive. I promise you won't regret it. There are plenty of companies like Legacybox that offer great deals on this all the time. They send you a box, you fill it up with your old VHS tapes and send it back to them. Legacybox copies everything over to DVD or hard drive and sends them to you along with your original media. There are also local options that do the same thing (except you can just drop your tapes off!) - Cantrell Video is one near me.

Peace, love, and labelmakers,

Meg
